During the weekend, complete these 10 tasks in complete silence.
Students create a scenario in a restaurant. 1 waiter and 4 students .
This is a list composed of general ideas of projects for ASL students.
Students write a short story about one of the prompts. After writing the story in English, students translate it into ASL. Then, sign it to the class or partners. 🙂 They could also record themselves signing it and critique themselves.
As a group, students divide the 8 topics to research. Then, as a group, students present their news findings to the class.
My Personal Shoe Box is a way for a student to talk about themselves and who they are in the world. Each panel has specific instructions on what goes on it. This project can be extrapolated into many other areas. My suggestion would be to do this project after Christmas when students are receiving new shoes for the holidays.
Students choose to research a Deaf person, Deaf event, or a school or organization in the Deaf community. This is a great way to empower students to learn about the Deaf community and to present to the class.
Students select a Deaf culture topic (event, organization, or school) or a famous Deaf
person to present to the class.
Students create an ASL game that incorporates a set number of lessons. Students have fun with this project. I do stipulate, that they cannot use any game pieces from their games at home. They have to make their own game pieces. 🙂
Students research a country of choice in a group. Then, present their findings to the class in ASL.
