Educational institutions, government organizations, small businesses, corporations and individual citizens are striving to interact more effectively with those they come into contact with in their daily lives and work. Public libraries are uniquely poised to assist with these efforts for personal and community growth by offering valuable resources to support this goal.
By providing patrons access to American Sign Language learning, libraries are accomplishing many things… making a direct commitment to the Deaf community, supporting high school and college level students learning ASL for language requirements, supplementing professionals who serve and work alongside the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and advancing your own knowledge of a traditionally marginalized group.
ASLdeafined is a continually updated website to meet the demands of an ever-changing language and discerning public. When you subscribe to our program we will provide marketing materials, opportunities for customized staff training, and an offer of a virtual program for your patrons. This also includes any ideas you may have for how we can best support you and those you serve.
